Terms of Service
Personas is a service of Experimental LLC (“we”, “us”). These terms cover your use of yourpersonas.com, our apps and the personas we set up for you.
1. Agreeing to these terms
By using Personas you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.
2. What Personas is
A persona is a second name with its own email address, phone number, payment cards and mailing address, which you can use with shops and services instead of your own details. Personas is currently invitation-only, and we may change, add or remove features over time.
3. Your account
You must be at least 18 and tell us who you really are. We verify the identity of every member, and our card partners do too. Keep your login and devices secure, and let us know right away if you think someone else has access to your account.
4. Using a persona
You can use a persona for everyday things like shopping, signing up, booking and receiving deliveries. You may not use one to:
- Deceive anyone who is entitled to know who you are, including banks, employers, landlords, courts and government agencies
- Commit fraud, avoid paying debts, or abuse refunds or chargebacks
- Evade law enforcement, sanctions, or a court order
- Harass, threaten or impersonate a real person
- Send spam or unwanted calls and messages
- Receive anything illegal or dangerous by mail
Anything that requires your legal name, such as taxes, loans or official documents, should stay in your legal name.
5. Phone numbers, email, cards and mail
Parts of the service are provided by partners, including a phone carrier, an email provider, a card issuer and a mail service, and their own terms may also apply. Personas is not a bank; cards are issued by a partner bank. We may refuse or return mail and parcels we can’t safely or legally handle.
6. Text messages
Each persona’s phone number sends and receives texts for you. Texts you send from a persona are one-to-one messages you write yourself, to people and businesses you choose to contact or who texted the persona first. We never send marketing from a persona’s number.
If you turn on “Texts and calls in Messages” in the Personas app, we forward texts sent to your personas to your own mobile number, from numbers saved in your contacts. You can turn it off in the app at any time.
How often messages arrive depends on how many texts your personas get. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any of our numbers to stop texts from that number, and HELP for help, or write to e@experimental.energy. Carriers aren’t liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
7. Fees
We’ll agree your fees with you before your personas are set up. Fees are billed monthly in advance and aren’t refundable for partial months. We’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice before changing them.
8. Privacy
We know who is behind each persona, and we keep that to ourselves except where the law requires us to disclose it. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why.
9. Ending your membership
You can cancel at any time. Where possible, we’ll help you move your phone numbers and domains to another provider. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms or if the law requires it, and we’ll tell you why unless we’re legally prevented from doing so.
10. Disclaimers and liability
We work hard to keep Personas private and reliable, but the service is provided “as is”, and we can’t guarantee that it will always be available or that a persona can never be linked back to you. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is significant, we’ll email you at least 30 days before it takes effect.
